Two Tu-95MS strategic bombers perform patrolling over Sea of Japan


MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS-DEFENSE/. Two Tupolev Tu-95MS (NATO reporting name: Bear) strategic bombers of Russia’s Aerospace Force performed patrolling over the Sea of Japan on August 23, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press office said.

“Two Tu-95MS strategic bombers of the long-range aviation have performed a scheduled flight in the airspace over the international waters of the Sea of Japan,” the press office said.

The flight lasted about seven hours. Sukhoi Su-30SM (Flanker-H) fighters of the Russian Aerospace Force escorted the Tu-95MS bombers.

At certain stages of the route, the Tu-95MS planes were escorted by South Korea’s F-16 fighters.

Russian long-range aircraft perform regular flights over the neutral waters of the Arctic, the North Atlantic, the Black and the Baltic Seas, the Pacific Ocean. All flights are performed by Russian Aerospace Force planes in strict compliance with the international rules of using the airspace.
