Two other similar batches were supplied in April and August of 2012. Multipurpose strike helicopter Mi-35 represents an export version of Mi-24V helicopter. In 1999, Rostvertol worked out a program for modernization of these helicopters.

In 2000, four such helicopters were modernized in the framework of the program for the armed forces of Zimbabwe. In September of 2010, Azerbaijan signed a contract with Rosoboronexport on purchase of 24 helicopters Mi-35M. Sixteen of these helicopters were already handed over to the customer.

The Mi-35, the export version of Mi-24V is an upgraded version of the basic version of the combat helicopter Mi-24 Hind. The Mi-35 is armed with the Shturm anti-tank guided missile system. Shturm (Nato designation AT-6 Spiral) is a short-range missile with semi-automatic radio command guidance.
