Russian Eastern Military District's Su-35 fighter pilots perform air-to-air live firing exercises | |||
Pilots
of advanced Russia-made Su-35 fighters practiced firing “air-to-air”
missiles for the first time during aerial exercises held in Primorsky
Krai, Russia. Russian Defense Ministry announced on April 10 that the
Eastern Military District's pilots of advanced Su-35 fighters practiced
live-firing of air-to-air missiles with special thermal targets.

The
live-firing exercises took place at the sea range Zolotaya dolina in the
sea zone of the Sea of Japan.
The Russian Defense Ministry also mentioned that these are the first missiles launches after the Eastern Military District had received 4++ generation aircraft. Now in cooperation with Su-27 and MiG-31 crews the pilots will have to practice tactical elements using the unique capabilities of their multi-role fighters. Tactical exercises
of Russian fighter and attack aviation were held in Primorsky Krai under
the leadership of the Commander of the Eastern Military District Air
Force and Air Defence formation Major General Alexander Tatarenko on
April 8-11. It involved about 500 servicemen and over 30 aircraft, such
as Su-35,
Su-27 and MiG-31. |
