The
Sukhoi Su-30MK (MKM-export version) is a russian made two-seat multirole
fighter aicraft. Intended to gain air superiority, deliver blows against
ground and waterborne targets by guided and unguided weapons, and also
to conduct group combat actions in enemy's ECM and air defense fire
environment, by day and night, in any weather conditions. The Sukhoi
Su-30MK enables its crew to fully implement vast capabilities of up-to-date
avionics systems and the entire range of airborne weapons to defeat
aerial and ground (waterborne) targets. The Su-30MK is a qualitatively
new multifunctional combat aircraft, in which the combat capabilities
of Su-27-family aircraft have been retained and developed. It is developed
from the Su-30 production aircraft and capable of carrying air-to-surface
guided weapons. |

Design | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The
Sukhoi Su-30MK aerodynamic configuration is an unstable-in-longitude
triplane. To increase lifting effectiveness and enhance manoeuvrability
of the aircraft, the canards are installed. They are deflected automatically
to ensure flight at high angle-of-attack. In terms of its maneuverability
at subsonic speeds and weapon options, the Su-30MK significantly outperforms
all western modern tactical aircraft and is capable of enhancing the
combat potential through equipping it with new avionics systems, including
the foreign-made ones, and weapons complement. |

Avionic | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The
Su-30MK is equipped with up-to-date avionics, including: a fire control
radar system, an optronic fire control and navigation system integrated
with a laser gyro-based inertial navigation system and satellite navigation
equipment, multifunctional color displays to indicate flight and tactical
information, a system intended to fairly monitor technical parameters,
tactical situation, and crew actions, a mulfunction voice warning system.

Propulsion | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The
power plant of Su-30MK incorporates two AL-31FP by-pass turbojet reheated
engines. The total 25,000-kgf afterburning thrust ensures 2M horizontal
flight speed, 1,350-km/h speed at low altitude, and a 230-m/s climbing
rate. |

Armament | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The Sukhoi SU-30MK is fitted with an inflight refueling system and 12
weapon suspension hardpoints. The Su-30MK can be armed with: - Kh-'iQM general-purpose medium-range TV/command-guided missiles (up to 2); - Kh-31A supersonic medium-range antiship active radar- homing missiles (up to 6); - Kh-31P antiradar passive-homing missiles (up to 6); - Kh-29T general-purpose TV-homing missiles (up to 6); - Kh-29L laser-guided missiles (up-to-6); - KAB-500Kr guided aerial bombs (up to 6) or KAB-1500Kr aerial bombs with TV-correlated homing heads (up to 3); - KAB-1500L semiactive laser-guided aerial bombs (up to 3); - unguided weapons (aerial bombs, bomb clusters, incendiary tanks, submunition dispensers, and rockets) with a total weight of up to 8,000 kg. |

The
airborne radar ensures detection of aerial targets in a free space and
against the underlying surface background, ground and sea targets, terrain
mapping, as well as low- altitude nap-of-earth flights. This radar ensures
detection of large sea-surface targets at a distance of up to 400 km,
and small-size ones - at a distance of up to 120 km. In preliminary
long-range aiming mode, the radar locks on the target automatically,
with co-ordinates transferred into the navigation system. The Su-30MK's
electronic warfare system incorporates an active jamming station intended
to effectively suppress enemy's electronic weapon control systems to
provide individual, mutual and group protection. The communications
system is intended to provide communication with command posts and airborne
aircraft and ensure information exchange between group aircraft, as
well as target distribution and designation. The automatic flight control
system makes it possible to perform planned-route flights, return to
a preprogrammed airfield in the manual, automatic or director flight
modes, execute a prelanding maneuver and perform an automatic landing
approach and repeated approach for landing. |
