Vietnamese Air Force will take delivery of 16 fighters aircraft Su-30Mk2 by the end of this year.
 
According to an Asian magazine, 20 Russian made fighters aircraft Sukhoi Su-30MK2 will be produced and delivered in Vietnam. The magazine also notes that four of the 20 Su-30MK2 aircraft have been delivered during the month of June 2011, the others would be delivered by the end of 2011.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence this aircraft Su-30MK2 should undergo some changes and be equipped with combat systems mounted on the aircraft Su-30MKM.

With this aircraft, the Vietnamese air force is equipped with one of the most moderrn military fighter aircraft in Asia.

The Russian firm Sukhoi could also install a maintenance center in the country. Vietnam has experience in aircraft maintenance including the Russian Su-27 and Su-22. The Vietnam would be interested to acquire 30 additional Su-30 aircraft.

After delivery of the new Russian fighter planes, the Vietnamese air force should have a total of 253 fighter aircraft.
