Italian Air Force completes AGM-88E Anti-Radiation Guided Missile operational testing

Northrop Grumman Corporation yesterday announced that the Italian Air Force completed operational testing of the company’s Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM) on their Tornado Electronic Combat and Reconnaissance (ECR) aircraft at Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake.

Canada requests $300M FMS for King Air 350ER ISR aircraft

The US State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Canada of three King Air 350ER (extended range) aircraft with customer unique post-modifications for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations for an estimated cost of $300 million,  the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced on October 4, 2018.

US oks possible FMS from Iraq for new Armed Bell 407GX helicopters

The US State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Iraq of five Armed Bell 407GX helicopters configured with M240 7.62mm Machine Guns for an estimated cost of $82.5 million, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said on October 3, 2018.

S-97 Raider exceeds expectations as FARA proposal submission approaches

The Sikorsky S-97 Raider light tactical prototype helicopter is advancing rapidly through its flight test schedule, recently exceeding 200 knots at the Sikorsky Development Flight Center. Raider, developed by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, is based on the company's proven X2 Technology, enabling speeds twice that of conventional helicopters.

UK Defense Minister confirms interest for E-7 Wedgetail procurement

Speaking ahead of this week’s NATO conference, the UK Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has announced that the Ministry of Defence is in discussion with Boeing and the Royal Australian Air Force about the potential for the E-7 Wedgetail radar aircraft to replace the current Sentry fleet.

Northrop Grumman to upgrade E-8C Joint STARS central computers

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a $17.5 million contract for a fifth generation upgrade to the central computers on 16 aircraft in the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS) fleet. This effort serves as a low-risk pathfinder for the U.S. Air Force to continue to enhance fleet capability while it develops the follow-on Advanced Battle Management System.

Second MQ-9B SkyGuardian RPAS took to the skies

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) completed the first flight of its second MQ-9B SkyGuardian Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) (YBC02) aircraft on September 26. The flight of the company-owned aircraft was conducted at Laguna Army Airfield in Yuma Proving Grounds.

Sweden submits proposal for Bulgaria MiG-29 replacement program

The firm, fixed-price award is for six (6) armed MD 530F Cayuse Warrior helicopters for Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), and includes initial logistics support (ILS) for the aircraft, aircraft systems and ground support equipment.

Lebanon places order for six MD 530G Scout Attack Helicopters

MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI) announced on October 1st receipt of the third Delivery Order issued against its 5-year, $1.4 billion light scout attack helicopter IDIQ contract. The firm, fixed-price award is for six armed MD 530G Scout Attack Helicopters to be delivered to the Lebanon Air Force (LAF), and includes initial logistics support (ILS) for the aircraft, as well as aircraft systems, ground support equipment, and associated services.

Northrop Grumman secures AGM-88E missile production contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation a $171 million contract for Lot 7 full rate production (FRP) of the AGM-88E Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM). The contract will deliver advanced capability to U.S. warfighters as well as the Italian Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force to counter the accelerating proliferation of surface-to-air threats.

OCCAR launches Tiger Mk III attack helicopter de-risking phase

The European defence procurement agency OCCAR-EA has placed two contracts with a consortium composed of Airbus Helicopters Tiger, Thales AVS and MBDA,  on behalf of the French, German and Spanish Armament agencies, DGA, BAAINBw and DGAM. They aim to de-risk the obsolescence treatment of the current Tiger helicopters, as well as the implementation of new capabilities.
