"On August 28, Tupolev handed over a Tu-160 to Russia`s Ministry of Defense [MoD]. The overhauled strategic aircraft passed through the first-stage modernization. On August 10 and August 30, two subsequent upgraded Tu-95MS planes were delivered to Russia`s Aerospace Forces [VKS]. The turboprop strategic aircraft passed through the first-stage modernization," the press department said in a statement.

In early July, a Tu-22M3M long-range supersonic bomber-missile carrier overhauled and modernized by the company was delivered to the customer. The updated Tu-160M, Tu-95MSM and Tu-22M3M passed the required ground and flight trails to the full extent.

"The required works for the modernization of the aerial platforms handed over to Tupolev have been fulfilled. [They] conducted the user-acceptance flights, and the aircraft were sent to their home bases," the Director General of Tupolev Alexander Konyukhov said.

The air-launched weapon range of the upgraded Tu-160M and Tu-95MSM strategic aircraft comprises the newest Kh-101 air-launched cruise missile (ALCM). This munition was used during the counter-terror operation in Syria. Most of the strikes with the usage of high-precision air-launched weapons were conducted in November 2015, when 83 ALCMs were used. In 2016-2017, the aircraft of the Aerospace Forces` Long-Range Aviation used about 15 Kh-101 missiles launched by the Tu-95MSM strategic aircraft.
