"A contract for the delivery of two Mi-17V-5 helicopters to the Royal Thai Army was signed in September 2017. In future, a batch of helicopters may be delivered," said Petukhov, who headed Russia’s delegation at the exhibition.

According to him, an intergovernmental agreement on military and technical cooperation was signed in September 2017 as well.

The Royal Thai Army already flies three helicopters delivered U-Tapao RTNS on February 2011.

The Mi-8MTV-5/Mi-17V-5 helicopters are designed to transport military personnel and cargo. They can be also used to conduct search and rescue operations and carry weapons.

The Asian international Defense & Security 2017 exhibition began on November 6 in Bangkok and will last through November 9. It has been held under the patronage of the government and the Defense Ministry of Thailand since 1985, traditionally bringing together major producers and customers of military hardware for the Army and the Navy, aircraft and air defense systems.
