ATOS to use Airbus DS Lygarion datalink for aeronautical R&D study

The French company ATOS, based Paris, has awarded Airbus DS Electronics and Border Security (EBS) a contract to provide its Lygarion datalink for an aeronautical R&D study, Airbus' EBS division recently announced.

The Lygarion datalink is a point-to-point real-time high data-rate programmable, flexible and highly protected datalink for Surveillance and Reconnaissance as well as secure Command and Control of platforms and weapons supporting aeronautical, terrestrial and maritime operations.

Lygarion is a light-weight, modular product offering a wide scale of solutions available in C-band or in Ku-band with IP full duplex connectivity between two mobile terminals operating up to 100 Mb/s and distant up to 300 km. The Lygarion configuration is a solution developed with the requirements of STANAG 7085 implementation II.

Airbus Defence and Space launched Lygarion wideband datalink family in June 2014.

The core of the Lygarion family is based on a modulation- and demodulation-device which incorporates the latest digital and radio frequency technological advantages, enabling higher data throughputs, robust and discrete programmable radio waveforms.

This line-of-sight as well as beyond-line-of-sight modem is a high- end software radio module enabling simplified management of directional-antenna- based long range digital communications. Together with smart antennas and power amplifiers, it constitutes a unique datalink family. The particular solution can be adapted to the mission and integrated to the respective platform and thus be further enhanced.
