Antonov's new An-132D airlifter completes its maiden flight
 
Antonov state corporation's An-132D multirole military aircraft successfully completed its maiden flight on March 31, flying from the airdrome of Sviatoshyne to Hostomel airfield in Ukraine. “The creation of this transport plane was joined by the leading enterprises of the world’s aircraft manufacturing: companies from the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany and many other countries," said the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko after the An-132D successfull first flight.

"The An-132D is a unique example in the history of Ukrainian aviation that proves the need to develop the introduction of production cooperation with Western partners. Now this cooperation is being built up with NATO member states, which is in line with the development strategy of our state,” Poroshenko added.

Antonov rolled out the first prototype of the future An-132, the D version, on December 20, 2016.

This programme is realized in accordance with the contract with the customer from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), in close cooperation with King Abdulaziz City Science and Technology (KACST) and ?aqnia Aeronautics Co. Enterprises of aircraft industry of Ukraine and leading suppliers of world aviation industry are involved in the project.

The An-132D differs from its predecessor, the AN-32 aircraft, with a higher level of technical, economic and flight performance data: lifting capacity is increased by 23%, flight range is 1.72 times longer while carrying 6 t of cargo, higher fuel efficiency, lower level of noise and emission.
