Sentient demonstrates ViDAR airborne optical system to European agencies
 
Australian company Sentient has demonstrated its ViDAR airborne optical radar system to European maritime surveillance agencies, with a ViDAR equipped Insitu ScanEagle RPAS detecting and tracking small boats and people in the water on a trial at Huelva, Spain in May.

The Russian military department is sharply increasing Army aviation’s strength. Before the end of the year, the Eastern and Central Military Districts will be supplemented with two new army aviation brigades (AAB). These military units are tasked to provide direct support to ground forces and will be mainly equipped with helicopters. Attack and transport rotorcraft destroy enemy armored vehicles and personnel, air drop, and transport servicemen and various cargoes. Each AAB has about a hundred helicopters.

Sikorsky inks $3.8bn Black Hawk helicopter production contract
 
The U.S. government and Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, on June 30 signed a five-year contract for 257 H-60 Black Hawk helicopters to be delivered to the U.S. Army and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers. The multi-year contract will yield significant savings for the U.S. government compared with purchasing the same quantity across five separate annual agreements.
