Saab receives order from Sweden for Gripen E fighter aircraft spare support
 
Defence and security company Saab has received an order for spare supports for Gripen E fighter aircraft from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV). The order is part of the Gripen E framework agreement which was signed between Saab and FMV in February 2013. The order value amounts to approximately SEK250 million ($30 mn) and the order was booked as order intake in the second quarter of 2015, the Swedish company announced today, July 1st, 2015.

The order comprises spare parts, such as components and devices, for Gripen E. Delivery is expected to take place in conjunction with initial aircraft delivery.

The JAS 39 Gripen E is a single-seat production version developed from the Gripen NG program
. Saab started the construction of the pre-production Gripen E test aircraft, designated as 39-8, in July 2013. Orders for the new generation aircraft for Sweden are based on the initial agreements signed between Saab and Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) in February and March 2012. The agreement calls for the modification of 60 Gripen C aircraft to Gripen E configuration for Sweden from 2013 to 2026.

Switzerland has an option to procure 22 Gripen E aircraft to be delivered between 2018 and 2021 under an agreement signed in August 2012.
