According to the Indian media Economic Times, the Indian Air Force has moved a proposal to spend $1.1bn to acquire more Mi-17-V5 medium-lift multirole choppers from Russa in a move that would go against the grain of the 'Make in India' concept but offer a vital addition to its transport fleet. Hundreds of Mi-17 helicopters are already in service with the IAF.

The pact was signed by Shelley Lavender, president of Boeing Military Aircraft, and Sukaran Singh, MD & CEO of Hyderabad-based TASL.

Iraq ordered 36 of the $65 million Lockheed Martin Corp planes, but initial deliveries were delayed because of security concerns after Islamic State militants overran large areas of of the country last year.

Testing of the latest upgraded Mi-28NM attack helicopter will be started in Russia soon, Russian state owned media RIA Novosti reported with reference to Russian Helicopters Deputy CEO Andrei Shibitov. According to him, the helicopter will be integrated with UAVs. «Testing of the latest version of Mi-28 helicopter – Mi-28NM, will be started soon. It is the upgraded version. Testing will be started in the near-term,» Shibitov said.

Italy recently decided to declare the first ACCS site operational, with other NATO and national sites to follow in 2015 and subsequent years.Poggio Renatico in Italy is the first ACCS site in NATO to achieve operational status. The NATO Air Command and Control System (ACCS) is intended to combine and automate the planning, tasking and execution of all air operations at the tactical level.
