According to BGN News, six MiG-31 long-range interceptor aircraft from Russia have landed in Damascus, in partial fulfillment of a protocol signed between Moscow and the Syrian regime in 2007. The deal signed in 2007 between Russia and Syria features the sale of a total of 8 MiG-31 jets, the local media unveiled on August 16.

Belarus has ordered new combat aircraft from Russia, the commander of Belarus’ Air Force and Air Defence Forces has stated. Major General Oleg Dvigalev told reporters that the country has signed two contracts for four Yakolev Yak-130 ‘Mitten’ trainer/strike aircraft and confirmed than an order for 12 Mil Mi-8MTV-5 ‘Hip’ helicopters had been signed in June, the BelTA news agency reported on 12 August.

MiG-35S fighter planes will begin to enter service as of 2018, the commander of Russia’s Air and Space Forces, Colonel-General Viktor Bondarev, told the media on Wednesday, August 12. "The MiG-35S is being developed under a contract with the Defense Ministry. Research and development is to be completed in 2017. After government certification tests it will be authorized for service. Thirty planes of this type or more will be purchased," Bondarev said.

The new MALE UAV was displayed during the Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition, which was being held at the Taipei World Trade Center from Aug. 10-13.

The U.S. Army has awarded Raytheon Company a $36 million contract to fund the certification and testing of a significant upgrade to the AN/ARC-231 Multi-Mode Communications System. The upgraded systems will provide the highest level of security for voice and data communications for more than 7,000 rotary, fixed wing and unmanned Army platforms – including Apaches, Blackhawks, Chinooks and Gray Eagles.

Taiwan’s Air Force recently selected Lockheed Martin’s Sniper® Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) for its F-16 aircraft, becoming the 20th international customer to choose Sniper ATP to fulfill precision attack requirements. In the initial contract, Lockheed Martin will provide two Sniper ATPs and integration support to Taiwan. Lockheed Martin will also provide integration support of LANTIRN targeting and navigation pods on Taiwan’s recently upgraded F-16s.

Two more Su-30MK2 multi-role fighters arrived at Da Nang air base (Vietnam). The aircraft were delivered to the customer under a contract for delivery of 12 jets of the type signed in 2013. The jets were delivered to Vietnam by An-124-100 Ruslan transport aircraft, i-Mash reports with reference to Bao Dat Viet.
