Il-76MD-90A was developed by PJSC Il, part of the United Aircraft Corporation Rostec. The Il-76MD-90A is an upgraded version of the original Il-76, designed to meet modern operational requirements and improve performance.

One of the key improvements in the Il-76MD-90A is its new avionics suite, which includes advanced navigation and communication systems. This enhances the aircraft's ability to operate in diverse and challenging environments, including remote and austere airfields.

Measuring 46.6 meters in length, 50.5 meters in wingspan, and 14.76 meters in height, the Il-76MD-90A is powered by four PS-90A-76 turbofan engines, each delivering approximately 16,000 kilograms of thrust. These engines are renowned for their efficiency and reliability, contributing to the aircraft's remarkable performance.

With a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of approximately 210 tonnes, the Il-76MD-90A has a payload capacity of up to 60 tonnes, depending on its configuration. It can reach a maximum speed of around 800 km/h, which is approximately Mach 0.65. Moreover, it offers a range of approximately 5,000 km with a full payload, and this range can be extended when carrying a partial payload.

In terms of avionics, the Il-76MD-90A is equipped with a modern glass cockpit that features advanced digital flight control and navigation systems. It also includes an upgraded communication suite, ensuring secure and efficient communication in diverse operational scenarios. The cargo compartment of the Il-76MD-90A is notable, measuring approximately 24.5 meters in length, 3.45 meters in width, and 3.4 meters in height. The Il-76MD-90A also incorporates several upgraded systems, such as improved fuel systems and reduced maintenance requirements, resulting in lower operational costs.

Operational flexibility is a key feature of the Il-76MD-90A, as it is designed to operate from various types of airfields, including unprepared and semi-prepared airstrips. For crew operations, the aircraft typically carries a crew of five members, including two pilots, a navigator, an engineer, and a loadmaster.
