Boeing commences first P-8A deeper maintenance in Australia

Boeing Defence Australia has celebrated an Australian-first with the commencement of major maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on the Royal Australian Air Force’s fleet of P-8A Poseidon aircraft this month.

Laser-phosphor projector from Belgian company Barco selected for USAF Joint Simulation Environment program

Barco, a Belgian technology company that specializes in digital projection and imaging technology, announced that the Barco F70-4K6 projector is part of the Collins Aerospace visual display solution on the USAF Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) program. The Barco F70-4K6 laser-phosphor projector will provide the optimal combination of resolution, brightness and the lowest acquisition and life-cycle cost to the program.

Belarusian air defense troops to hold drills at training ground in Russia

MINSK, August 9. /TASS/. The Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense troops will conduct drills on the republic’s territory and at the Russian Aerospace Forces’ 185th combat training center in August, the Defense Ministry of Belarus reported on August 10.

Exercise Virtual Flag: Battle Management begins August 15

US National Guard Bureau proposes F-15EX and F-35A beddowns

The Air National Guard's federal mission is to maintain well-trained, well-equipped units available for prompt mobilization during combat and to provide assistance during national emergencies, such as natural disasters or civil disturbances. During peacetime, Air National Guard units carry out missions compatible with training, mobilization readiness, and humanitarian and contingency operations. The purpose of the proposed action is to efficiently and effectively maintain Department of the Air Force combat capability, mission readiness and homeland defense. Beddown and operation of the F-15EX and F-35A at Air National Guard locations would represent a major step toward this goal.

Argentine Air Force receives first modernized EMB-312 Tucano and third Beechcraft TC-12B Hurón

On August 5, at the Aeroparque Military Air Station, the Ministry of Defense together with the Argentine Air Force made the official presentation of the third Beechcraft TC-12B Hurón aircraft and the first modernized Embraer EMB-312 Tucano in the Río Material Area IV.

Czech Republic will help with the protection of Slovakia's airspace from September

On July 27, 2022 the government of the Czech Republic has approved the Slovak request with help over guarding the Slovakian air space. The request was official after meeting between the Slovak Minister of Defense Jaroslav Naď and his Czech counterpart Jana Černochová. The Czechs will provide so-called Air Policing with JAS-39 Gripen aircraft from September of this year until the end of 2023, with the possibility of further extension. Poland is also supposed to participate in the protection of Slovak airspace. 

Czech Republic will begin negotiations with the Israeli government on the acquisition of three drones

The Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of Czech Republic will soon begin negotiations with the Israeli government for the acquisition of three HERON 1 unmanned aerial vehicles, including all accessories consisting of ground control stations, data terminals, transport containers and other material. The procurement of these machines is based on the ACR Capability Building Concept, which identifies these machines as key in conducting aerial reconnaissance and performing other tasks for direct combat support and protection of ACR units.

Lockheed Martin Next Generation Interceptor achieves communications testing milestone, proves ability to operate in harsh environments

Lockheed Martin recently validated prototype communications radio technology for the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) during a recent test milestone. The NGI’s mission is to protect the U.S. homeland from increasing and evolving intercontinental ballistic missile threats. Critically, the interceptor and its components must be able to receive and share data from the ground and throughout the mission across vast distances, at tremendous speed through harsh environments.

Thales obtains type certification for Spy'Ranger 330 system

The Spy'Ranger 330 in service with the French Army as part of the SMDR programme has obtained its first type certification by the French defence procurement agency's airworthiness authority, testifying to the system's proven performance in combat situations. Type certification guarantees the airworthiness of the SMDR and enables the Army to use its mini-UAS systems for instruction, training and operational deployments without obtaining specific flight approvals.

UK: Royal Air Force Regiment takes the lead for Counter UAS

RAF Regiment Gunners from 2 Force Protection Wing, which includes 34 Squadron RAF Regiment, 63 Squadron RAF Regiment and 609 Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment, are currently being trained to operate the ORCUS Counter-Uncrewed Air System (C-UAS).

Ukraine orders Vector drones from Quantum-Systems

Munich-based drone manufacturer Quantum-Systems has received an order from Ukraine for the delivery of reconnaissance drones. Part of the ordered drones is already in use in Ukraine. Delivery of the larger part of the ordered quantity is still in the preparation and processing stage and will take place after the training of Ukrainian forces and drone pilots.

US Navy delivers first upgraded CN-235 to Royal Malaysian Air Force

The U.S. Navy has delivered the first of three Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) CN-235 military transport aircraft converted to a maritime patrol platform. This comes just three-and-a-half years after the U.S. signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance to begin increasing the capability and interoperability of U.S. and Malaysian forces.

Sixth and final SBIRS missile warning satellite successfully launched, now under US Space Force control

Following a successful launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on August 4, the U.S. Space Force is now communicating with the sixth Space Based Infrared System Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (SBIRS GEO) -6 satellite, built by Lockheed Martin.
