Russia ready to supply Mi-171Sh helicopters to Peruvian Air Force


According to information published by Tass on October 29, 2021, Moscow is ready to supply combat aircraft to Peru if the country makes a request, CEO of Russia's state arms seller Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec state corporation) Alexander Mikheyev said in an interview ahead of the SITDEF 2021 international defense exhibition.

Mikheyev emphasized that in addition, Russia was ready to supply new Mil Mi-171Sh helicopters to the Latin American nation.

Peru's Air Force is equipped with the multirole Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter jets, Sukhoi Su-25 jet aircraft and the Mil Mi-171Sh-P military transport helicopters.

The SITDEF 2021 international defense show is taking place in Peru's capital of Lima on October 28-31.

The Mi-171Sh Storm helicopter is specially designed to carry out counter-terrorism missions by special forces.

The helicopter is equipped with "high-altitude" increased power engines, a new rotor system with an improved profile composite main rotor and X-shaped tail rotor, an integrated flight and navigation system, and most importantly - an improved composition of weapons and defense systems.

Large-caliber machine guns "Kord" (caliber 12.7 mm) has been installed to expand aviation weapons range. The aircraft is to be equipped with a modern observation optoelectronic station, including TV and thermal imaging channels, as well as a laser rangefinder.

Along with small arms and gun machines, unguided rockets and bombs of various calibers, the helicopter is also equipped with a guided missile system including sighting and targeting system, which allows to fight against air and ground targets, destroy enemy's fire points and armored vehicles.
