MiG develops system to limit maximum flight modes for MiG-35

Engineers of the MiG Corporation of the United Aircraft Corporation have patented a complex system for limiting the maximum flight modes of a maneuverable aircraft. The first of its component parts allows the pilot to remain within the permissible angles of attack with any action of the control stick, excluding the aircraft getting into a spin. The purpose of creating the second is to preserve the maximum permissible overload of the combat vehicle when maneuvering in all planes. The improved systems have already been installed on the MiG-35 and MiG-29M/M2.

“The safety and comfort of the pilot during the flight is a priority goal for our designers and engineers. The patented integrated system improves the tactical and technical performance of MiG fighters. Now they significantly outperform their foreign counterparts, ”said Andrey Gerasimchuk, Managing Director of the MiG Corporation.

The limiter of the limiting modes, installed on the previous models of fighters - the MiG-23 and MiG-29 - was mechanical. The control stick of the aircraft was repulsed automatically as soon as the maximum angle of attack was reached. This prevented the pilot from fully controlling the exit of the aircraft to the maximum operating mode. Thanks to the modernized systems, the pilot will be able to stay within the permissible overload parameters in any flight mode.

“We have been improving the limiter of flight modes of maneuverable aircraft for the last five years. The difficulty lay in the fact that it was necessary to keep within the limit parameters in the entire area of maneuvering without deteriorating the technical properties of the combat vehicle. The tests were carried out in a variety of flight modes. Now we are confident that we have succeeded in achieving our goal, ”said Yuri Obolensky, Deputy Chief Designer for Control Systems at MiG Corporation.

The patented system is qualitatively different from analogues. It can significantly improve flight safety. Thanks to this, domestic fighters are superior to foreign ones in terms of technical indicators. In particular, the MiG-35, in terms of operation and maintenance, is currently the most efficient light fighter in the world.
