This modification adds an 18-month ordering period to the multi-year basic contract and involves 100 percent Foreign Military Sales to Saudi Arabia.

Turkish company Dasal Aviation unveils VTOL UAV armed with 81mm mortar rounds

As reported by BulgarianMilitary citing Defense Express, the Turkish Institute for Defense Research and Development (SAGE), part of Tubitak – Turkey’s Scientific and Technological Research Council, together with Dasal Aviation presented a new airstrike system that combines the capabilities of a Dasal helicopter and an 81mm mortar system designed by SAGE. Their combination allows the use of mortar ammunition for high-precision airstrikes.

Azerbaijan interested in Turkish TAI turboprop aircraft Hurkus

Azerbaijan is likely to purchase the Hurkus trainer aircraft developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Topwar.ru reports. So, Azerbaijan may become the second foreign customer of this aircraft after Niger, which ordered 12 aircraft. It will be either the training Hurkus-B or the Hurkus-C turboprop attack aircraft developed on its basis.

Mi-17-1 helicopters enter service in Mali armed forces

As reported by Guy Martin on Defence Web, Mali’s military has officially taken into service the four Mi-17-1 helicopters it received from Russia at the end of September. The helicopters and training were acquired for 36 billion CFA ($61 million). The four helicopters, along with weapons and ammunition, arrived in Mali from Russia on 30 September as part of a December 2020 contract.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has completed its certification of the S-70M Black Hawk helicopter — a new type designation — by issuing Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company (NYSE: LMT) a Restricted Category Special Airworthiness Certificate. FAA certification, and the establishment of a pilot type rating, are expected to broaden the market for the military-designed helicopter by allowing civil and commercial operators in the United States to purchase new Black Hawk aircraft direct from the factory.
