Czech Republic signed contract to supply tank vehicles for the Army


Czech Deputy Director for Armaments and Acquisitions Lubor Koudelka today signed a contract to supply seven tank cars and two tanker semi-trailers. The army will receive them no later than November next year. The supplier is the state-owned enterprise VOP CZ, sp, the total purchase price will not exceed CZK 252.2 million including VAT.

The volume of the tanker is 16 thousand liters of fuel, the tank of the trailer can fit at least 34 thousand liters. Both types are on Tatra chassis, semi-trailer and superstructure will be made by Kobit, spol. s ro.

"The main objective of the acquisition of tank vehicles is to ensure timely transportation, storage and refueling not only for aircraft operated in the Czech Republic, but also aircraft deployed abroad as part of military operations in cooperation with NATO," said Deputy Lubor Koudelka.

According to him, the purchase of modern tank vehicles will also increase safety, ecology, economy and, last but not least, the smooth operation of aircraft technology. "Simplification of logistical security, as well as reduced costs of operation and interoperability, will be ensured for tank vehicles, for example, by unification on already established bogies suitable and approved for operational deployment," he added.

Should the Czech Army show interest in more tank vehicles in the future, the contract also includes an option to purchase another 18 cars in the years 2022-2024.
