"By the end of 2020, the UAV unit will receive two multirole Orlan unmanned aerial systems that will increase the effectiveness of army and attack aircraft in combat and joint training," the press office said.

As it was reported earlier, a short- and medium-range UAV unit was formed at the Kant airbase.

The crews have undergone training at the Defense Ministry’s State Unmanned Aviation Center in Kolomna in the Moscow Region and are ready to accomplish combat missions in their area of responsibility.

The Orlan-10 is an unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the Special Technology Center in Saint Petersburg for the Russian Armed Forces. The price of one drone is reportedly between US$87,000 and US$120,000.
