Poland Special Forces get 4 Black Hawk helicopters


On December 20, Poland has taken delivery of four Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopters for operation on special forces missions. Head of the MoD, Mariusz Błaszczak and Polish President, Andrzej Duda, as well as the US Ambassador to Poland, Georgette Mosbacher, participated to the  official handover ceremony at the 1st Air Base in Warsaw.

According to the information released by the MoD, the agreement is worth PLN 683 million. The price includes the helicopters (PLN 75 million per a single aircraft with the equipment) along with extra equipment and a training/logistics package.

The S-70i Black Hawk is the international military version assembled by Sikorsky subsidiary, PZL Mielec in Poland.
The S-70i helicopter can be configured according to customer specific missions, including troop transport and air assault, command and control, border patrol, search and rescue, cargo lift and VIP transport. The first S-70i Black Hawk helicopter successfully made its first flight in July 2010.
