Northrop Grumman receives $200 Million Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure order


Northrop Grumman Corporation has received a $200 million order for Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure (LAIRCM) systems and support from the US Air Force. This order was received under an existing indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract.

The LAIRCM system is a defensive system for large transport and rotary-wing aircraft that combines a Missile Warning System (MWS) and infrared laser jammer countermeasure system to protect the aircraft from infrared guided threat missiles. Such protection is used during normal take-off and landing, assault landings, tactical descents, air drops, low-level flight, and aerial refueling...

“With this award, we continue to protect US and international partner aircrews from the threat of infrared guided weapons,” said Bob Gough, vice president, land and avionics C4ISR, Northrop Grumman.
