MAKS 2021: Fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 will be equipped with upgraded communication system


The Ruselectronics Group integrated into Russia’s Rostec state hi-tech corporation has started to upgrade the communication system of the fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet, the group’s press office told TASS at the MAKS 2021 international aerospace show.

“Specialists of the Polyot Research and Production Association integrated into the Ruselectronics Group have started to upgrade the S-111 system of the Su-57 fighter within development work,” the press office said.

According to the press office, the upgrade will make the communication system lighter and more compact.

“During the upgrade, units of the S-111 system will become lighter and smaller, the range will be extended, security of communication channels and the speed of data exchange between subscribers and command posts will be increased,” the press office said.

The Su-57 is a Russian fifth-generation multirole fighter jet designed to eliminate all types of aerial, ground and surface targets. The Su-57 has a supersonic cruising speed and carries weapons inside the fuselage. It has a radio absorbing coating and the latest onboard equipment.
