Alaimo Vincenzo, Vice President Asia & Pacific, AgustaWestland, said "We are delighted to sign this MoU with PWN Excellence and CAE to explore the opportunity to introduce AW169 and AW189 full flight simulators and to expand our successful partnership that provides AW139 simulator services to customers in the region. Like the AW139, the new generation AW169 and AW189 helicopters are establishing themselves as the market leader in their respective weight classes and we believe there is a significant potential market in Asia that would benefit from simulators being available in the region."

Subject to a successful business case, AgustaWestland, PWN Excellence and CAE expect to expand their partnership which has already successfully introduced an AW139 FFS with Level D capability. This was the first FFS simulator of an AgustaWestland helicopter type in the Asia Pacific region.

This collaboration will be another milestone for PWNE in the development of FFS centre in this region. "We are committed to provide AW169 and AW189 training services available to customers in the region to support safe operations and crew readiness." said Dato' Edron Hayata Ahmad, Chairman of PWN Excellence.

PWN Excellence manages the AW139 FFS as an AgustaWestland Authorised Synthetic Training Centre. It was jointly developed by CAE and AgustaWestland, to provide simulation training hours to the AgustaWestland Training Academy (AWTA) Malaysia, throughout Asia, China and Australasia. This relationship would be extended for the proposed AW169 and AW189 FFSs.

The AW169 is part of the AgustaWestland family of new generation helicopters that includes the AW139 and AW189 models, which possess the same high performance flight characteristics and safety features as well as sharing a common cockpit layout, design philosophy and maintenance/training concept. The AW189 is a new generation super medium twin engine helicopter and can carry up to 19 passengers. It entered in service in 2014 and is now operating all around the world. The AW189 has also been developed for the SAR market which will benefit from the aircraft's large cabin, long range and exceptionnal performance.
