Elbit Systems announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Elbit Systems Electro-optics - Elop Ltd. (Elop), was awarded a follow-on contract to supply its advanced Digital CoMPASS electro-optical (EP) payload systems to an Asia-Pacific Air Force to be installed onboard Helicopters. The contract will be performed over a three-year period.

Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company, announced that the U.S. Army has awarded a Technology Investment Agreement (TIA) for the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator (TD) program to Bell Helicopter based on its Bell V-280 Valor. Bell Helicopter's third generation tiltrotor design is on track to achieve first flight in 2017.

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has awarded Thales a contract to supply IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) transponders for the upgrade of A1M fighters and E-99 AEW surveillance aircraft in service with the Brazilian Air Force. A total of 48 aircraft will be retrofitted with the new IFF transponders.

According to UPI.com Iran and Syria have a deal allowing Damascus to station its fighter jets in Tehran to keep them safe, a German intelligence report revealed. Germany's Der Spiegel magazine Sunday said a classified report by German intelligence revealed the agreement between Tehran and Damascus in November 2012 to allow Syria to station its fighter jets on Iranian soil and gain access to the aircraft when needed.

It is designed to certification standards for civil airspace and, when necessary, to military specification requirements. Thales, as a long-standing Airbus partner, is supplying most of the A400M’s cockpit systems
