"A first prototype for the flight tests is planned to be produced by the end of 2019. By the middle of 2021, we expect to complete the tests and certify the platform, after which it will be ready to enter both the Russian and international markets," said today Alexander Okonko, General Director of VR Technologies.

With a take-off weight up to 1600 kilograms, the VRT500 is a lightweight single-engine helicopter with coaxial rotor system. It is planned to implement the most spacious cargo and passenger cabin among the helicopters of this class by accommodating up to five people.

The helicopter is intended to reach a maximum speed of 225 kph, a range of up to 860 kilometers, and to feature a maximum payload capacity of up to 730 kilograms.

Different variants are planned in addition to the passenger transport one, such as cargo, MEDEVAC and training versions, as well as VIP transport.
