U.S. aerospace giant Boeing has won a $1.4 billion deal to supply India with 22 helicopter gunships, beating off competition from Russia's Mil Mi-28, the Times of India reported on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Only the Boeing AH-64 could meet all the Indian armed forces' air staff qualitative requirements, the paper said.

A MiG-29 fighter aircraft of the Iranian Army Air Force conducted its test flight successfully on Saturday, Auguxst 4, 2012, after being overhauled by local experts. The MiG-29 aircraft which was down for 12 years could experience its first flight after it was overhauled at Shaheed Fakouri air base in Iran's Northwestern city of Tabriz, which took 21,000 man/hour of work.

The first M-346 advanced trainer for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) was rolled out in a ceremony held at Alenia Aermacchi’s plant in Venegono Superiore, Italy. In September 2010, ST Aerospace, as the prime contractor, teaming with Alenia Aermacchi (a Finmeccanica company) and The Boeing Company, was awarded a contract to supply 12 M-346 aircraft and ground based training system for the RSAF’s Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) programme.

Russia will mass produce fifth generation PAKFA T-50 fighters from 2015, Air Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Victor Bondarev said Monday, August 6, 2012. He said the PAKFA T-50, which is intended to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters for the next 30 years, will be produced in volume after 2015.

For the second time this year, the U.S. Marine Corps has approved the deployment extension of K-MAX Cargo UAS, the first unmanned helicopter to deliver cargo and resupply troops in a combat zone. By supplying forward operating bases with K-MAX instead of ground convoy or manned aircraft, the Marine Corps has reduced the threat posed to personnel by improvised explosive devices by thousands of hours.
