| The
Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is the air force
branch of the Australian Defence Force. The RAAF
was formed in March 1921. As of year 2011, the RAAF
has 14,570 permanent full-time personnel and 2,800
part-time active reserve personnel. There is an
executive (Air Force HQs) and two commands: Air
Command and Training Command. Air Command is the
operational arm of the RAAF, while Training Command
manages all training. Air Command is divided into
six major Force Element Groups.
