Iran's Air Force successfully overhauled an F-4 fighter jet, state TV reported on Sunday. The 1.5-year-long project at the Shahid Lashkari Air Force Base in northern Tehran Province was finished, using up to 18,000 man-hours, Tasnim News Agency reported on Sunday.

The aircraft had been grounded for years before the overhaul process began. It has undergone a final test and restored to the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force's fleet, the report said.

The Iranian government still has less than 50 F-4 D/E/RF jets in service. Among these, there are still some original F-4Ds updated with improved avionics, including limited look-down radar.

Earlier in February, Iranian media outlets reported that Islamic Republic experts successfully overhauled US-made F-14 fighter jets as well as a PC7 Turbo Trainer.

On Sunday, Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said that Iran's Armed Forces are not afraid of any enemy, according to Press TV. Iran's Armed Forces, are capable of guaranteeing security in the region, he added.
