Belarus plans to purchase five Yak-152 trainer aircraft by 2018
|

Belarus is planning to purchase five Russian-made Yakovlev Yak-152 training planes before the end of 2018 for the DOSAAF Voluntary Society for Cooperation with the Army, Air Force and Navy, Deputy Chairman of the DOSAAF Central Council Andrei Gorbatovsky said.

"The 2018 DOSAAF development program envisages the purchase of Yak-152 trainers and the allocation of budget funds," Gorbatovsky said.
According to him, Belarus is planning to receive the first two and then the remaining three Yak-152 planes in 2017-2018 under the agreed plan. "The plan has not been implemented yet as the Yak-152 training plane is currently undergoing flight tests in Russia. As soon as the serial production of the Yak-152 trainer starts, we will start receiving such planes," Gorbatovsky said. The advanced planes will replace Yak-52 aircraft that are currently operational by DOSAAF and designed rather for sports than training. The Yak-152 plane’s advanced equipment will allow accomplishing more combat training tasks and make it easier for pilots to learn to operate the Yak-130 (NATO reporting name: Mitten) combat trainer. In 2015-2016, Belarus received eight Russian-made Yak-130 planes that joined the 116th Guards Assault Airbase in Lida in the Grodno Region. The Yak-152 plane performed the first flight in September 2016. As it was reported earlier, the serial production of the Yak-152 trainer is planned to be launched in the spring of 2017. |
