Boeing will conduct work in Mesa, Arizona, throughout June 30, 2017, said the US DoD. The US Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

Negotiations between Boeing and the Army were discussed in January for a potential multiyear deal that could be worth up to US$4 billion for the sales of 240 AH-64s.

The Apache is a twin-engined army attack helicopter developed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing Defense). It entered service with the US Army in 1984. The latest variant, the AH-64E Guardian, features improved digital connectivity, the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, more powerful T700-GE-701D engines with upgraded face gear transmission to accommodate more power, capability to control unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs), full IFR capability, and improved landing gear.
