BAE Systems announced today having completed the first full trial installation of MBDA’s Brimstone missile onto a Typhoon aircraft. This trial fit is an important milestone in demonstrating the integration of the missile with the aircraft and follows the successful completion of an initial £5M study contract awarded to BAE Systems by the UK’s Ministry of Defence earlier this year. The trials are helping to pave the way for Brimstone 2 integration for the UK’s Royal Air Force (RAF) by 2018.

Chkalov Novosibirsk Aircraft Plant in the presence of the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Mr. Vladimir Gorodetsky and Novosibirsk Mayor Mr. Anatoly Lokot, announced on Wednesday December 10 the russian aircraft manufacturer in an official statement.

The US Department of Defense has assigned F-35 Regional Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul and Upgrade capability for airframes and engines for the European Region. The assignments were based on data compiled and analyzed by the F-35 Joint Program Office that was collected from European Partners and their industries. These initial MRO&U assignments will support near-term engine and airframe F-35 overseas operations and maintenance and will be reviewed and updated in approximately 5 years.

The trials took place in November and saw the missile being released from the aircraft and tracked by radar up to impact.
