Dr. Timothy Day, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Leonardo DRS Daylight Solutions business unit, expressed pride in their collaboration with Northrop Grumman on this essential technology. He emphasized the system's reliability and its effectiveness in safeguarding aircrews and aircraft in today's high-threat environments.

The Leonardo DRS Solaris serves as the laser source for Northrop Grumman's 5th generation IRCM (Infrared Countermeasures) technology, which works within the CIRCM system. Its role is to disrupt the missile's infrared guidance system, allowing the aircraft to maneuver safely away from the threat. Furthermore, the Solaris Line Replaceable Unit is adaptable and expandable, ensuring it can counter future threats effectively.

In celebration of this achievement, U.S. Army and Northrop Grumman program officials are planning a visit to the Leonardo DRS production facility in San Diego to acknowledge the delivery of the 1,000th Solaris unit for the CIRCM program. This event also serves as an opportunity to commend the dedicated employees contributing to the safety of frontline pilots and aircrews.

Leonardo DRS has a strong presence in the U.S. military with its laser technology, reflecting their commitment to delivering cutting-edge sensing and laser technologies to support aircraft protection and various sensor applications for the U.S. armed forces.
