Highlighting the ongoing significance of the F-16 in 21st Century Security operations for the United States, Europe, NATO, and global allies, OJ Sanchez, Vice President and General Manager of the Integrated Fighter Group, remarked, "Lockheed Martin takes pride in joining forces with Romania and the Netherlands to create the European F-16 Training Center in Romania. This endeavor will elevate mission readiness by delivering a comprehensive training solution for Romanian pilots."

The focal point of this center will be to ensure the proficiency and safety of Romanian pilots engaged in flying and managing F-16 fighter aircraft, and there is potential for its scope to expand to encompass training for other nations in the future.

Sanchez added, "As soon as the particulars are solidified, we are optimistic that the training center will have a positive impact on Romania and other regional F-16 operators, including the possibility of extending its benefits to Ukraine."

With a longstanding track record of supporting F-16s on a global scale, Lockheed Martin possesses extensive expertise in providing training for pilots and maintenance personnel alike. The current training regimen for aircrews from the Netherlands and Romania incorporates Lockheed Martin F-16 simulators, and this newly proposed training center will bolster preparedness through a cost-effective and streamlined sequence of ground-based and in-flight training missions.

Given the substantial number of F-16s in operation throughout Europe, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding airspace and contributing to an interwoven network of NATO peacekeeping efforts, countries such as Romania stand to benefit from Lockheed Martin's ongoing collaboration aimed at modernizing the F-16 to effectively counter evolving threats.

Focusing on the F-16

As a strategic and sought-after choice for numerous global customers in need of advanced fighter aircraft capabilities, regional and international partnerships, and cost-effective lifecycle management, the F-16 enjoys a presence in 25 countries with over 3,100 aircraft currently in operation. With a staggering estimated flight time of 19.5 million hours and participation in no less than 13 million sorties, the latest iteration of the F-16, the Block 70/72, is already adopted by six nations, with more potentially joining the ranks.
