Under this contract, the German Army is set to receive 57 helicopters, while the Luftwaffe's special forces will acquire 5. Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, stated that the German Air Force has operational experience with its H145M LUH Special Operations Forces fleet. He also mentioned the planned delivery schedule, with initial deliveries expected in 2024.

The H145M helicopter is designed to serve various military roles and can be quickly reconfigured for different missions. It can switch from a light attack role, equipped with weapons and self-protection systems, to a special operations configuration with rappelling equipment. The helicopter includes capabilities for hoisting and external cargo.

The German H145Ms will have options for future upgrades, including Manned-Unmanned Teaming and improved communication systems. The H145Ms for the Bundeswehr will be equipped with the HForce weapon management system, a setup intended to allow pilot training on the same helicopter model used in operations.

Equipped with two Turbomeca Arriel 2E engines, the H145M features FADEC and the Helionix digital avionics suite, which includes a 4-axis autopilot. The helicopter is noted for its comparatively low acoustic footprint.

The H145M can be flown by 1 to 2 pilots and carry up to 10 troops, with a maximum weight of 3,800 kg. It is powered by Safran Helicopter Engines ARRIEL 2E turboshafts, with a cruise speed of 241 km/h and a maximum altitude capability of 20,000 feet. The range varies with fuel tank configuration, extending up to 799 km with an additional tank.

The H145M functions in various roles, including Armed Scout, Attack, Utility, Special Operations, Command, Control & Communications (C3), and Maritime Security. It can also carry medical stretchers and medics. The maximum take-off weight is 3,800 kg, and it has a dual cargo hook load capacity of 1,600 kg.
