Turkey officially places order for four HAVA SOJ stand-off jammer aircraft


The Turkish Undesecretariat for Defence Industry (SSB) awarded Aselsan a contract for the development and delivery of HAVA SOJ stand-off jammer aircraft for the Turksih Air Force, the SSB said on August 9, 2018. A total of four platforms will be handed over to the TuAF Command starting 2023.

"All Electronic Warfare mission systems to be integrated into the HAVA SOJ systems will be developed and produced domestically," SSB stated. The program will mostly depend "on domestic industry, especially TAI, with technical support of aircraft manufacturer to be selected".

The HAVA SOJ stand-off jammer aircraft is designed to suppress enemy air defense surveillance during allied air forceSuppress enemy air defense surveillance during allied air forceoperation and long range detection and jamming missions.

The HAVA SOJ is a further development of the land-based KARA SOJ system, which was initially known as KORAL. The Turkish Undesecretariat for Defence Industry (SSB) awarded Aselsan a contract for the development and delivery of HAVA SOJ stand-off jammer aircraft for the Turksih Air Force, the SSB said on August 9, 2018. A total of four platforms will be handed over to the TuAF Command starting 2023. Other sub-systems include Communication, Radar Electronic Support and Electronic Attack devices. 

If the SSB didn's gave any further details regarding a potential platform, Aselsan has been reportedly negociating with Gulfstream since 2013.
