Boeing lands $983 mn USAF contract for Air Force One and other Boeing platforms support
 
The US defense giant Boeing Defense has been awarded a $983 million IDIQ contract for engineering services and support for recurring and non-recurring activities relating to VC-25 "Air Force One" and other military aircraft based on Boeing platforms in service with the US Air Force, the US DoD announced on Jan. 31, 2017.

This contract involves support of VC-25, E-4B, C-32A, C-40B/C, E-8C, and NT-43 aircraft. This includes analysis and technical instructions needed to overcome maintenance issues; non-recurring engineering needed to implement retrofit changes to the aircraft to correct deficiencies, overcome obsolescence and to introduce product enhancements.

"Work will be predominantly performed at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is expected to be complete by Jan. 31, 2027. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, is the contracting activity," the US DoD said.

Besides the VC-25 Air Force One presidential transport aircraft, the USAF operates a wide range of Boeing platforms such as the E-4B Advanced Airborne Command Post ; the C-32A transport aircraft based on the B757 ; the C-40B/C transport aircraft based on the B737 ; the E-8C Joint Stars which is a surveillance and C2 version of the B707 ; and the NT-43 aircraft, a training version of the B737-200.
