A source in the Russian armed forces said the batch includes five tactical Su-34 bombers for the 277th bomber aircraft regiment of the Eastern military district deployed at the Khurba airfield in Khabarovsk region. The previous batch of four aircraft was handed over to the Russian armed forces in May 2016. The aircraft were also deployed in the 277th regiment.

In 2016 the defense ministry has to receive a total of 18 Su-34 including two above the plan. For the given moment this year delivery plan has been fulfilled 50 percent (9 aircraft). The Russian Aerospace Forces are expected to receive the 100th tactical bomber of the new type by the end of the year. A total of 150-200 Su-34 bombers have to be supplied. The first contract for 32 bombers was signed in 2008. Another agreement was inked in 2012 for 92 aircraft. Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said the contract can be fulfilled ahead of schedule.
