"Work is being carried out in accordance with the schedule agreed with the Voronezh Aircraft Plant. According to the schedule, the plane is planned to perform the first flight no later than June 30, 2017," Savelyev said.

"A contract for the delivery of serial-produced Il-112V planes is being worked out. A contract for the delivery of a development batch of two Il-112V planes is planned to be signed next year," he added.

According to him, Russia’s Aerospace Force needs 35 Il-112V military transport aircraft.

"There are also orders placed by other state agencies. The total number of orders, including planes ordered by the Aerospace Force, equals 100," the head of the Il-112V plane development program said.

The Il-112 military transport plane is being developed to replace the Antonov An-24 (NATO reporting name: Coke) and An-26 (Curl) turboprop aircraft.

The Voronezh Aircraft Plant (VASO) is planned to assemble eight planes of this type annually. It was reported earlier that Russia’s Defense Ministry was planning to order 62 Il-112V planes.
