The air refueling tests took place during daylight, dusk and under the cover of darkness, certifying KDC-10’s capability to refuel the JSF.

The F-35A will visit the Netherlands for three weeks. It will be stationed at Volkel and Leeuwarden Air Bases in order to be accessed by citizens and undertake demonstration flights. The country is planning to acquire 37 F-35A. The first batch of eight aircraft is scheduled for delivery until 2019.

The Royal Netherlands Air Force currently has two McDonnell Douglas KDC-10 aerial refuelling aircraft in service. They are to be replaced by Airbus A330-MRTT aircraft in 2020.
