The aircraft was unveiled during a ceremony in Shahid Noje Airbase in the western province of Hamedan, attended by high-ranking officials including Iranian Defense Minister, Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs, and Commander of Iran’s Air Force.

The jet trainer has been designed and built by specialists of the Iranian Armed Forces and is intended to be used for training fighter pilots. Yasin is 12 meters long and four meters high. It weighs 5.5 tons and can fly up to 12 kilometers.

Yasin appears to be a new name for the Kowsar-88, a trainer aircraft unveiled in 2017. Kowsar-88 had been due to make its first test flight last year, but the flight was delayed for unspecified reasons.
