Russia's Saratov training base inducts final batch of five Ansat-U training choppers

The Saratov training base received five new Ansat-U helicopters, the Russian Defense Ministry said. "The final batch of new training Ansat-U helicopters arrived at the training air base of the Zhukovsky and Gagarin Air Force Academy in Saratov region. Crews of the Syzran affiliate of the academy flew the helicopters from the producer enterprise to the deployment airfield," it said.

The 2017 state defense order for the delivery of ten helicopters has thus been completely fulfilled. The academy received another five Ansat-U in late November.

Produced by Kazan, the Ansat is a light two-engine multirole helicopter. The maximum takeoff weight is 3.6 tons. It can carry over 1.2 tons of payload or 7-8 passengers. The cruising speed is 250 km/h and the range is close to 500 km.

The Ansat is powered by PW 207K Pratt & Whitney Canada 630 h.p. engines and FADEC system that ensures the helicopter can continue to fly if one engine fails. It will gradually replace the aged fleet of Mi-2 helicopters.
