The two Grob G120TP ‘Prefect’s’ that will deliver elementary flying training were the first of the fleet of aircraft to fly in to RAF Cranwell last week.

The G120TP, which are side-by-side two seater aircraft, are used to teach basic aviation principles and handling skills as well as provide an introduction to basic navigation, night flying and instrument-only flying. The G120TP will be based out of RAF Cranwell and RAF Barkston Heath.

In February 2016, Affinity secured a US $622 million deal to supply Thirty-eight modern, glass cockpit aircraft in a phased approach over the next three years comprising 23 Grob G 120TP ‘Prefects’, 10 Beechcraft ‘Texan’ T-6Cs s and 5 Embraer ‘Phenom’ 100 jets – all featuring digital cockpits. The remainder of the fleet will be delivered next year.

We are delighted to have delivered these aircraft only 9 months after contract award”, said Martin Fausset CEO of Elbit Systems UK. “We are proud to be a part of this significant project and look forward to seeing more aircraft coming on stream next year.
