Russia's Southern Military District to receive 20 new Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters in 2016
 
In 2016, the Russian Southern Military District separate helicopter regiment located in the Krasnodar Krai is to receive 20 newest Kamov Ka-52 “Alligator” attack helicopters, the Russian ministry of defense announced on Jan. 26, 2016.

Before operating Ka-52 helicopters, piloting staff is to pass a training course in Centre of combat operation and retraining in the Tver region.

The Ka-52 is a twin-seat derivative of the Ka-50 “Black Shark” helicopter. It is powered with two uprated 1863kW Klimov TV3-117VMA-SB3 turboshafts. It has a maximum speed of 310 km/h and an operational range of 460 km. The helicopter is equipped with the same weapons as those carried by the Ka-50, including the Khrizantema and the Hermes new-generation ATGMs, a 30mm rapid-firing flexible 2A42 gun mount with an ammunition load of 460 rounds, and S-8 and S-13 aircraft rockets.

Russia’s Air Force is to adopt 140 Ka-52 Alligator rotorcraft.
