In August 2015, seven squadrons of the French air force are about to be created at Evreux, St. Dizier, Luxeuil-les-Bains, Mont-de- Marsan, Cazaux and Orleans airbases. Defined in the French Defense Ministry strategic plan "Unis pour Faire Face" ("States to deal"), creation of these new air squadrons aims to bring together, at constant staffing, units and staff dedicated to the same mission in a set whose consistency will be enhanced. By september end, seven new squadrons will be created in the French Air Force

"These squadrons will inherit the traditions and historical values of the most prestigious air force units to ensure their conservation," said the French Air Force.

Establishing these seven squadrons directly follows the creation, in 2014, of four squadrons: two in Avord, one at Istres and Nancy. Initially, the French Air Force (Armée de l'air) will finalize the geographical installation of these units. Thereafter, in 2016, units numbering, registration of aircraft and transfer of historical heritage (flag, traditions and Christian name) will be made in accordance with their membership squadrons.

Thus, new air squadron will be:

- 8th fighter squadron, Cazaux air base 120, ceremony taking place on 08.25.2015.

- 4th fighter squadron, air base 113 in Saint-Dizier, ceremony on 08.26.2015.

- 64th transport and command and control squadron, air base 105 of Evreux, ceremony on 08.27.2015.

- 61st squadron of transport, air base 123 in Orleans ceremony on 09.01.2015.

- 2nd fighter squadron, air base 116 in Luxeuil-les-Bains, ceremony on 09.03.2015.

- 30th fighter squadron, air base 118 in Mont-de-Marsan, ceremony on 09.03.2015.
