The HESA Yasin serves multiple purposes, potentially including close air support missions. The official unveiling ceremony took place at Shahid Noje Airbase in Hamadan Province on October 17, 2019, and was attended by prominent Iranian officials, including Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami, Iran's Air Force Brigadier General Commander Aziz Nasirzadeh, and Vice President for Science/Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari.

When it comes to the technical specifications, the Yasin has a length of 12.25 meters, a wingspan of 10.4 meters, and a wing area of 24 square meters. Its empty weight is 3,900 kg, while its gross weight is 5,500 kg, with a maximum takeoff weight of 6,600 kg. The power is provided by 2 Owj turbojet engines, each producing 16 kN (3,600 lbf) thrust, without an afterburner.

In terms of performance, the Yasin can achieve a maximum speed of 1,000 km/h, with a stall speed of 200 km/h. It has a range of 900 km and a ferry range of 1,200 km. The aircraft can endure for 90 minutes with its internal fuel or 120 minutes with additional external fuel tanks. Its service ceiling reaches 11,000 meters (36,000 feet).

There are discussions about the potential armament of Yasin trainer jets for Close Air Support missions.
